Architecture, Arts and Culture in Vichy France, 1940-1944 (Abstract Journel)

Two books written by Le Corbusier are published within the year 1941. Their narratives and the conditions in which they are published would differ completely from one another. The first book, Sur les 4 routes (On the 4 roads) is published by Gallimard and gives the author’s ideas on the future reconstruction of France in a rather literary style. The second 1941 book, Destin de Paris (Paris’ destiny) published by the notoriously collaborationist publisher Sorlot, presents the author’s projects for the capital. Both of these books reflect the difficulties that French architectural publishing had to endure during World War II.
